Prowling for Theatres on Pico Blvd...

I took a drive down Pico Blvd. this spring in search of remains of the many theatres that once dotted the Boulevard.  There are only a few left.
One of the great buildings that survives (although now as a church) is the Forum Theatre. It now is on a new page with a couple of recent exterior views, one of which you can see here. And there are added links on the page to a few new archival photos. Nope, I didn't get inside.

Another building with a similar story (now a synagogue and, again, I didn't get inside) is Carl Boller's 1930 gem the Fox Stadium Theatre.

See the new page I've done on this one for some links to wonderful Mott-Merge collection vintage photos in the collection of the California State Library.

The view here is one of mine from February. You can click either of these photos to enlarge.
