Main Street's Art Theatre

The Art Theatre on Main Street had a long career. It opened in 1918 and saw lots of changes in the business between then and its demolition in the late 80s.

The photo here is a pre-demolition view from the 80s by Gary Graver. You can click on it to enlarge.

Have you checked out Gary Graver's collection of theatre photos? This noted cinematographer and filmmaker took many pictures of theatres in Los angeles and his hometown of Portland, Oregon over a period of several decades.

Many of them are on display in a video on YouTube as "Second Run - Part 1" and "Second Run - Part 2."

See the new page on the Art Theatre for more information. Or check out the Main Street Theatres page for an overview of the more than 45 theatres that once graced this now forlorn street.
