A Vintage Postcard Double Feature: The Fox and the Warner

One of my favorite Hollywood views is this postcard looking east on Hollywood Blvd. in 1956. On the right is the Iris (opened 1918 -- later renamed the Fox). We're running "Friendly Persuasion."

Check out the page on the Fox Theatre for lots of views of various exterior looks of the building -- including several added a couple of weeks ago. I took some interior shots in 2010 after its conversion into "Playhouse at the Fox" that are also on the page.

But there's nothing of historic interest left inside and I have never seen a photo of the interior when it was operating as a theatre. Let me know if there are any you've seen.

The Warner down in the next block is running "Cinerama Holiday." The page for the Warner Theatre continues to grow. Items added in the last several weeks include a nice postcard view from the site Card Cow and a lovely 1965 view from the Facebook page Vintage Los Angeles. Check it out!

The postcard above comes from Yestersday L.A., a now vanished web site.
