The page for the Hollywood Avalon got another update recently.
I heard from Joel Huxtable, who used to be an archivist at the theatre. After retiring from that job he has continued collecting photos, programs and other memorabilia about the building, which opened as the Hollywood Playhouse in 1927.
The delightful program cover here, from a 1933 WPA production of "Androcles and the Lion" is one of many new items on the Avalon page that come from Joel's collection.
Check out the updated page for links to more of Joel's items. Or head directly to his Hollywood Playhouse blog for additional historical data and photos.
