The Chinese Theatre - 1981

Well, it's the back of it anyway. This interesting pre-Hollywood and Highland view by Nigel Hailwood-Cook appeared recently on the Facebook page Vintage Los Angeles.

You can click on the photo for a larger view.

Nigel was up in what was then the Holiday Inn (now the Renaissance at Hollywood & Highland) for the photo. It gives a view of the now hidden east side of Grauman's.

And also, on the left of Grauman's, is a view of the Chinese Twin. There seem to be lots of pictures of the lot it's on when it was just parking but not many of the time when the theatre was there. If you're interested, I've got a page up on the Mann Chinese Twin.

And if you've never been to the replacement in the mall, there's also a recently updated page on the Chinese Six Theatres.
