The Melrose Theatre has now been the Ukranian Culture Center longer than it ever was a theatre.
It opened in 1924 as part of a mini-empire that also included Jensen's Raymond in Pasadena and other ventures.
For most of its life since closing as a theatre in 1959 it has had a rather uninspiring beige and gold color scheme. Two months ago, it got a dazzling makeover as you can see by the photo here -- one of many on the Center's Facebook page.
Check it all out on the new page devoted to the Melrose Theatre.
