In the Balcony at the United Artists

We're up at the top of the balcony of C. Howard Crane's strange 1927 masterpiece, the downtown United Artists Theatre. The image here is a detail from a 2012 photo by Hunter Kerhart.

The UA is scheduled for a late 2013 reopening as part of the Ace Hotel project. All the office and retail spaces in the building are being transformed into a 180 room boutique hotel including bars and restaurants. The theatre becomes a performance space operated by the hotel company.

We have hundreds of photos of the building on our web pages. This particular view appears on the United Artists Balcony page.
