The Leimert Theatre

The Leimert, at 3341 W. 43rd Place, was part of the Leimert Park development of Walter Leimert. Howard Hughes was the first operator of the theatre in an exhibition fling long before his RKO days.  The photo is from the Mott-Merge collection of the California State Library. The Morgan, Walls and Clements designed 1932 building, now called the Vision Theatre, is owned by the City of Los Angeles. It's been in a much drawn-out renovation program to make it into a properly equipped performing arts venue -- it had no stage originally. See our page on the Leimert/Vision Theatre for many more views.
