Opening: The date is unknown. It's listed in the 1908 San Pedro city directory with the 264 address. Oscar Jacobson was the manager at the time. It was on the north side of the street at 5th and Centre St.

Closing: Sorry, no data about that. Presumably sometime in the 1920s.
Status: It's been demolished.
c.1916 - A postcard view with the Auditorium as the large building in the distance on the left. The Globe Theatre at 6th and Palos Verdes is in the center, right behind the telephone pole. It's from the collection of Joe McKinzie and appears in his 2007 Arcadia Publishing book "San Pedro." There's a preview on Google Books. Joe comments:
"This postcard, mailed on September 15, 1918, shows the hilly geography of San Pedro from Plaza Park looking toward the brick A.P. Ferl Building that was on the northwest corner of Beacon and 7th Streets. The office of the Daily Pilot newspaper is in the left corner of the building next to the empty lot. Beyond it, in the center of the photograph, is the white elaborate architecture of the very popular, domed-roof Globe Theatre. The large building in the distance is the Auditorium Theatre, which advertised first-class musicals and comedies."
1920s - Looking west on 5th toward Front St. (now Harbor Blvd.) with the Auditorium up the hill, seen directly behind the closest of the telephone poles. It's another card from Joe McKinzie's collection appearing in his book "San Pedro." He comments:
"This view in the 1920s looks west from the ferryboat and naval landing to the businesses along Front Street that go up Fifth Street to the Auditorium Theater. Fifth Street was the only public access across all the railroad tracks that paralleled Front Street."
1920s - Another look west on 5th from Front St. The large building in the distance on the right is the Auditorium. The first intersection in was 5th and Beacon where the Star Theatre would have been. The card is from the San Pedro page on the site Penny Postcards from California.
