Pacific's closure: The theatre closed in March 2020 due to Covid restrictions. On April 12, 2021 Pacific announced that it was not reopening any of its Pacific or ArcLight branded locations. See the
Cinerama Dome page for links to many news stories about the decision.
AMC ended up taking over this location as well as the Grove. Ryan Faughner had the July 19, 2021 story in the L.A. Times: "
AMC takes over former Pacific theaters at Grove and Americana." Thanks to Jonathan Raines for spotting the article.
Variety and
Hollywood Reporter also covered the news. AMC noted that the Grove was the second highest-grossing movie theatre and the Americana was the fifth highest-grossing theatre in the L.A. area.
Reopening: The complex reopened under AMC management in August 2021.
