Berry Grand Theatre

13011 Philadelphia St. Whittier, CA 90601 | map |

Opened: July 1913. It was on the north side of the street a half block east of Greenleaf Ave.

The address before street renumbering was 108 E. Philadelphia St. Joe Vogel surmises that the Berry in the name was Truman Berry, later a partner in the Gale Theatre and Scenic/Roxy theatres.

Joe also notes that Berry got out of this one in 1916. He found a mention in the February 19, 1916 issue of Moving Picture World that noted it had been taken over by L. Uhlig.

Closed: It closed up in the summer of 1919.

Status: The building survives with a vintage clothing store, a sandwich shop and a shoe store as tenants.
