Fox Northridge

10170 Reseda Blvd. Northridge (Los Angeles), CA 91324 | map |  

Opened: September 11, 1963 in the North Park Plaza shopping center with "Come Blow Your Horn." The location was on the east side of the street a block south of Devonshire. 
 

"Lights! Glamour! Music." It's a pre-opening ad from the L.A. Times. Thanks to Michael Coate for including it on the From Script To DVD page about the theatre.

Seats: 806. Thanks to Joe Vogel for locating data about the the theatre in an item in the September 2, 1963 issue of Boxoffice, 

Booth: The house had Simplex 35/70s and an Ampex 6/4/1 sound system. 

Architect: Clarence Smale with Carl G. Moeller as designer. The cost was reported to be $350,000.

"It began on Wednesday November 7, 1963 - another citywide run - played the World in this run, as well as the Encino and El Portal. Doubt this was shown in 70mm there, as it was a shortened version, if memory serves."

Closed: Sometime in the early 1980s. Competition had stiffened when the Peppertree Cinemas triplex opened in 1973 across the street at 10155 Reseda Blvd.

Status: It became a shoe store after closing. It's now a Goodwill store.
