Garden Theatre

1221 San Pedro St. Los Angeles, CA 90015 | map |

Opened: 1914 or a bit earlier. It's in the 1914 city directory as at 1223 S. San Pedro. It was on the west side of the street between 12th St. and Pico.

The listing for the Garden from a large March 14 directory ad. Thanks to Jeff Bridges for posting the full ad on Flickr. In the 1915 and 1916 city directories the address is listed as 1221 S. San Pedro.

Closing: The closing date is unknown. Perhaps sometime in 1916 was it. In the 1917 city directory there's nothing for 1221. 1223 S. San Pedro, which was a confectioner in 1916, has become a restaurant in 1917. There's nothing for either 1221 or 1223 in the 1918 directory.

Status: It's been demolished. The site is now a parking lot.
