Bob's Theatre

2734 Main St. Ocean Park (Santa Monica), CA 90405 | map |

Opening: This short-lived theatre is listed in the 1913 Santa Monica city directory with R.H. Irwin as proprietor and "motion pictures" listed as their business. It wasn't listed in either the 1907 or 1912 directories. The address is on the west side of the street between Hill St. and Ashland Ave.

A 1913 ad. Thanks to Ken McIntyre for locating this one for a post on the Photos of Los Angeles Facebook page.

Closing: Maybe 1914 was the end of it. It's not listed in the 1915-16 city directory. That address is noted as being vacant.

Status: Unknown. The building on the site today could be the one that once housed Bob's Theatre.

The building with the news racks in front and the Egyptian sunburst motif over the entrance is at the location once occupied by Bob's Theatre. We're looking south on Main St. toward Ashland Ave. Photo: Google Maps - 2019

More information: Sorry, there isn't any yet.
