Opened: Presumably it opened in the 1920s. It was on the south side of the street just west of 6th St.
A 1935 flyer for the Cameo. Thanks to James Crystal Castro for finding it.
"The Little Theatre With The Big..." Part of a 1937 flyer -- but it revealed the theatre's address. It was another find by James Crystal Castro. Thanks!
Closing: The date is unknown.
Status: Unknown. The building on the site could have once housed the theatre.
Looking west along the south side of Whittier from 6th. The first three storefronts are all in the same building. The third one in, now a barbershop, is at 605. It could have been the theatre's entrance with the auditorium positioned behind the other two storefronts. Photo: Google Maps - 2019
More Information: That's all there is at the moment. Additional digging is needed.
See the pages here on this site for three other theatres in Montebello: The Vogue Theatre (1937) at 712 W. Whittier and the Garmar Theatre (1950) at 2325 W. Whittier Blvd. There was also another early theatre at 520 W. Whittier Blvd., the name not yet known. See the Montebello Theatre page for information about that one.
