A 1927 look at the boxoffice during the run of "The Tender Hour" with star of the film Billie Dove making an appearance. The photo appeared in the June 25 issue of Exhibitors Herald. Thanks to Mike Hume for finding it on Internet Archive. Check out the page about the State Theatre on his terrific Historic Theatre Photography site.
A peek into the ticket lobby in 1931. They had draped the walls and above the entrance doors. They were running "Body and Soul" along with the Fanchon & Marco "Mickey Mouse Idea." Note the banner proclaiming the State the birthplace of the Fanchon & Marco "Ideas." This is a detail from a photo in the Tom B'hend and Preston Kaufmann Collection, part of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Margaret Herrick Library Digital Collection.
The ballyhoo for Laurel and Hardy's "Pack Up Your Troubles." Thanks to Scott T. Rivers for locating the image in a December 1932 issue of Motion Picture Herald for a post on the Cinema Treasures Facebook group. The Herald's caption:
