AMC closed the Broadway 4, a couple blocks south on the Promenade, in 2024. They got out of the Criterion 6, also on the Promenade, in 2013.

Well, no more readerboard outside with the titles. Or outside boxoffice. The entrance on the Promenade was revamped in 2022. Thanks to Sarah Feldsted for this July photo showing the new look.

The Santa Monica 7 in the Movies:
Simon McBurney and a new friend see a show at the Santa Monica 7 in "Friends With Money" (Sony Pictures Classics,
2006). Note the plug for AMC in the lower left.
When McBurney and friend exit the theatre we get a reflection in the boxoffice glass of the
Criterion Theatre across the street. The
film, written and directed by Nicole Holofcener, also stars Frances
McDormand, Jennifer Anniston, Katherine Keener, Joan Cusak, Jason
Isaacs, Timm Sharp and Greg Germann. The cinematography was by Terry
Stacey.
More Information: See the
Cinema Treasures page on the AMC Santa Monica 7.
Fun fact, it’s one of a very few AMCs still sporting the logo that was in use before the mid 90s. Subtle difference with the “C” in “AMC”. All the exterior signage is original.
