The spaces in the building that were initially the Texaco Company's offices (and later those of many other tenants) were renovated and reopened as the Ace Hotel on January 6, 2014. In February 2024 it was rebranded as the Stile Downtown Los Angeles by Kasa. For shots of the pool and bar area on the roof see the on the roof page.
In the lobby looking toward Broadway. The photo was taken from the exit passageway behind the lobby that's between the office building (now hotel) and the east wall of the theatre. One can see an arch on the right that leads to the reception area. The restaurant is off to the left. Photo: Bill Counter - January 2014
The view north from the lobby into the restaurant, initially called Chapter L.A. In 2017 it changed hands and was renamed "Best Girl Bistro," a nod to the Mary Pickford film that opened the theatre. Photo: Bill Counter - January 2014
Up on the restaurant mezzanine -- it's new construction. Photo: Bill Counter - January 2014
A corridor -- we're on the 6th floor. It's all new construction. The office building areas were stripped out down to the concrete of the exterior walls. Photo: Bill Counter - January 2014
The terrace of a 6th floor room on the northeast corner of the building. This used to be part of the fire escape. The north end of the building now has a new elevator and a new exit stairway. Photo: Bill Counter - January 2014

The view down from a 6th floor hotel room. Here we're looking south into the exit passageway between the hotel and the theatre. On the right we see the fire escape coming down from the house right exits. Photo: Bill Counter - January 2014

Another top floor view. We're looking north. The landing we're on is part of the stairs up to the roof. At the far end of the space, construction of a new elevator shaft is underway. Photo: Hunter Kerhart - October 2012. Thanks, Hunter! Keep up with his explorations: hunterkerhart.com | on Flickr
